What is VALD Performance Testing?

VALD uses industry-leading ForceDecks and Dynamo technology (the same systems trusted by elite sports teams) to measure how your body produces and controls force. It looks at strength, power, balance, asymmetry and movement quality in a precise way that cannot be judged by eye alone. The results give us a clear and objective picture of where you are strong, where there may be gaps, and how ready your body is for the demands you want to place on it.

What to expect

Your physiotherapist will take time to understand your history, any previous injuries and what

you want to achieve. You will then complete a series of practical tests using the VALD

equipment. Afterwards we sit down together to explain the results in plain language and discuss

what they mean for you. You will leave with a clear summary and practical recommendations

that can feed into physiotherapy, clinical strengthening classes, or your own training program.

A follow-up re-test a few weeks later is often useful so we can measure progress and adjust

your plan as needed.

How VLAD it helps with return to sport and injury prevention

Knowing exactly where your strength and movement sit takes the uncertainty out of

return-to-sport decisions. It helps us identify any deficiencies that could increase your risk of

re-injury and gives clear markers so we can progress you safely and effectively. The same

information is valuable for preventative screening, catching small imbalances early so they do

not become bigger problems down the track.

VLAD treatment FAQs

Q. Would this service be good for me?

A.

If you want a comprehensive analysis of your athletic profile, assess your readiness for your return to running or play, get a starting point of your movement capabilities to track progress or reduce your likelihood of future injury this is great for you.

Q. What do I need to bring?

A. Bring yourself, a water bottle, a towel and a pair of athletic shoes that you could do some movements in

Q. How long do sessions take?

A. Haha, fair question!

Most sessions last 60 minutes. This includes a short discussion about your goals and history, the testing itself, and time to review your results with you.

Q. What happens after the testing?

A.

We will walk you through your results in plain language, highlight any areas that need attention, and give you clear recommendations. These can feed directly into physiotherapy, clinical strengthening classes, or your own training program.

Q. How often should I retest?

A.

This depends on your goals. Many people retest every 6–8 weeks so we can measure progress and adjust your program. For return-to-sport decisions we often retest at key milestones.

Q. Do I need a referral?

A. No. You can book directly with us. A doctor’s referral is not required.

Resourcing: Identifying remaining gaps, recognising where support outside of our scope is needed, and helping the individual build a supportive multidisciplinary team

Q. Can I claim this with private health insurance?

A. Yes. The session is conducted by a physiotherapist, so it can usually be claimed under your physiotherapy extras cover. We have HICAPS on site for immediate claims.
